Alumni Join Doniphan Bands For Spring Concert

The spring concert by the Doniphan High School and Middle School bands on Thursday night included a special evening for DHS band alumni. Alumni were invited to enjoy dinner and participate in the concert. Special guests included former DHS band teachers Paul Ripley, Vernon Allen and Brenda Pigg.

Four generations of DHS band directors were on hand for the first DHS Band Alumni Night on Thursday. From left are current band director Donny Falk, Brenda Pigg, Vernon Allen and Paul Ripley. Combined, they led the DHS band program for more than 50 years. Allen was a DHS band student taught by Mr. Ripley while Mrs. Pigg was a DHS band student taught by Mr. Allen. Mr. Falk was a DHS band student taught by Mrs. Pigg.

John Chesworth plays 'Serenade Basque' on the baritone saxophone for the concert audience. Chesworth will be playing the same piece Saturday at the state music contest at the University of Missouri.
