Class Of '21 Accumulates More Than $620,000 In Scholarships

The 2021 graduating class at Doniphan High School will be scattered across the nation by the time classes begin again this fall. Their destinations include nearly a dozen universities, colleges and trade schools including 19 different fields of study, more than a half-dozen job areas and two branches of military service. In-state colleges on the list include the University of Missouri-Columbia, Missouri State University, the University of Central Missouri, Three Rivers College, Iron Eagle Welding School in Stockton, State Tech at Linn, and Missouri College of Cosmetology at Springfield. Out-of-state schools include the University of West Florida, Pensacola (Fla.) State College, North Arkansas College and Black River Technical College in Pocahontas, Ark. The list of majors include animal science, English, business, marine biology, welding, journalism, dental assisting, education, professional pilot, health sciences, cosmetology, biology, computer science, occupational therapy, criminology, engineering,law, electrical lineman and power sports technology. Some members of the class will be serving their country as members of the Air Force and Army.Others plan to immediately join the full time work force taking jobs with contractors, sawmills, construction, retail stores, restaurants and river boats.
