Cross Country isn’t a sport for the weak-hearted. On Oct. 2, Doniphan’s high school, middle school and elementary runners, coached by Tim Rosmarin, competed in a downpour at the East Carter Invitational and came home with a big collection of medals. The Donettes elementary girls took first place to be the first Doniphan team in 11 years to take top team honors. Members of the team include Payton St. Cin (second place), Kinsley McGonigal (third), Aubrie Shepherd (fifth), Alaina Grace (11th), Josey Kennon (13th) and Emily Taylor (20th.) For the elementary boys, Doniphan's Blaine Schlief earned first-place honors. In the middle school division, Waylon Kelly was third for boys and Aubree Sitze was third for girls. In the high school varsity division, two freshmen placed for the Donettes. Macye Maness was fourth, followed by Torie Vierck in fifth. Special thanks to Heather Vierck for providing the excellent photos on a rainy day.
