- Smiles Warm The NIght At Naylor Lighted Christmas Parade (12/15/20)Frustrated in a year full of cancellations, the Naylor Heritage Day committee set its sights on a lighted Christmas parade for their community. Saturday night was the time and the evening was a success as fire trucks, ambulances, tractors, floats, ATVs, vintage cars and the Eagles and Lady Eagles basketball teams joined the lineup. Carolers at the park gazebo. Last but not least at the end of the parade was Santa, who had candy for the kids.
- Dons Host Jamboree; Season Starts Saturday At Current River Challenge (11/24/20)The high school basketball season starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday for the Doniphan Dons at the Current River Challenge in Van Buren. First up will be the Steelville Cardinals - a Class 3 school that has averaged 21 wins per season over the last four years. The Dons got a taste of strong competition Nov. 20 at home hosting a jamboree that included West Plains, Sikeston and Dexter. Levi Rawlings' rebound and basket with 15 seconds left gave the Dons a one-point edge over West Plains in a six-minute quarter. Orie Owen scored nine points to give the Dons a two-point edge over Dexter.
- Donettes Get Pre-Season Tests From West Plains, Sikeston And Liberty (11/20/20)For a preseason jamboree, the intensity level was pretty high at times Thursday night at Bill L. Wright Gymnasium. The Doniphan Donettes held their own during two-quarter scrimmages against West Plains, Sikeston and Liberty. Doniphan gave Class 4 West Plains its only close finish of the night with an 11-11 tie as Brook Klepzig scored four points, Sydni Speck three, Allison Skaggs two and Bailey Carson two. The Donettes finished strong outscoring Sikeston 18-5 with Time Turner scoring five points, Sydni Speck three, Olivia Creutz three, Kylie Hawkins two, Bailey Carson two, Allison Skaggs two, and Kendra Moore one.The Donettes will open their regular season Monday, Nov. 30, against Greenville at the Van Buren Lady Dawg Classic. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
- Naylor Gets Ready For Christmas (11/18/20)The decorations are going up and the enthusiasm is building. The Naylor Heritage Day Foundation has announced it will host a lighted Christmas parade at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in Naylor. Participants are asked to meet starting at 5:15 p.m. at Naylor School. Christmas decorations began going up Friday at the Naylor Community Park across from the senior center. Helping out was the FCCLA students from Naylor High School. Many decorations were donated by residents and former residents. Some of the FCCLA students volunteering included Haley Sullivan, Chloe Mitchell, Samantha McElhaney, Gracie Wilkerson, Cherokee Pinkston, Kinsey Hill, Zoey Sprous, Gulia Bentolio, Zella Layton, Nickel Somers, Harley Sullivan, Ricanna Powell, Chloe Smith, Eris Somers and Elizabeth Saling. The annual Naylor Heritage Days Parade in October was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
