Community Invited To Memorial Dedication

Wednesday, November 6, 2019

It is not unusual for the reasons to commemorate Veterans Day, Nov. 11, to get blurred. This day is for honoring those who served our nation in the military and are still living.

Area schools and governmental institutions often plan programs for this day to honor those living nearby. On Armed Forces Day we pay tribute to those who served and are serving in our nation’s military. Memorial Day (formerly called Decoration Day) is a day to remember those who died serving our country.

A permanent memorial tribute is to be unveiled at noon on the Courthouse Square this Veterans Day (Monday, Nov. 11.)

The memorial marker will honor all Ripley Countians who have served in the military as well as law enforcement, first responders and their families, according to organizers.

Stories need to be retold to remind us of the sacrifices local families experienced, forever changing lives as hopes and dreams vanished with loved ones lost in service to their country.
