Dons Weightlifters Earn Medals At Scott City And Piggott

The Doniphan Dons brought home plenty of hardware during February while competing in weightlifting meets at Scott City and Piggott.

On Feb. 28, the Dons competed at Piggott and earned second-place in the team competition while bringing home 17 medals.

Alonzo Rios was a double winner for the Dons in the 133-148 weight class taking first place in the bench press at 195 pounds and the power clean at 205 pounds.

Tristan Gettings also earned first place in the 260 and up weight class for the bench press, lifting 315 pounds.

Double medalists for the Dons included Kris Black (124-132 weight class) second in bench press at 125 and power clean at 135; Ben Ruhl (133-148 weight class) second in bench press at 155 and power clean at 175; Trey Mills (149- 165 weight class) third in bench press at 185 and second in power clean at 205; and Charlie Jones (221-241 weight class) second in bench press at 205 and power clean 215.

Adding to the medal count was Jordan White in the 149-165 weight class bench press with a best of 185 for second place; Nolan Czerwonka (166-181 weight class) third in the power clean at 195; Maguire Baucom (182-198 weight class) third in bench press at 215; Dawson Bishop (221-

241 weight class) second in bench press at 205; and Jarvis Raymond (242-256 weight class) second in bench press at 255.

The Dons also competed at Scott City Feb. 5 against a strong lineup of schools. They included Perryville, Malden, Kennett, Fredericktown, Farmington, East Prairie, Dexter, Charleston, Chaffee, Piggott and the host Scott City Rams.

Dons earning gold medals at Scott City included Alex Sitze in the senior division bench press, Jarvis Raymond in the junior bench press and Ben Ruhl in the junior power clean.
