Circuit Thoughts

After Jan. 20 we will have a new president, and a new administration. I ask you, what are you going to do?

As for me, I am going to pray.

I’m going to pray that our new president will have an open heart and hear God.

I’m going to pray that our Congress will open their hearts and follow God’s call to love.

I’m going to pray for our Supreme Court, that they will decide their cases with God’s will in their heart.

I’m going to pray for our governor that his heart is open to hear God.

I’m going to pray for our assembly that they will do what is best in God’s eyes.

I’m going to pray for our local government officials that they do the best they can to fulfill God’s will.

I’m going to pray for our soldiers, sailors, marines and air personnel, that they may be safe and out of harm’s way.

I’m going to pray for our police officers, that they may come home after all their shifts.

I’m going to pray for our Firefighters that they will have no harm come to them.

I’m going to pray for our first responders, that they may save lives and be safe.

I’m going to pray for our doctors and nurses, that they may find strength and hope.

I’m going to pray for workers, in all fields, that they may know success and security.

I’m going to pray for the unemployed, that they may find fulfilling employment.

I’m going to pray for our families, that they may come together in love and hope.

I’m going to pray for our teachers and administrators, that they may instill in all our children the things needed to be good citizens.

I’m going to pray for all our churches and their ministers, to bring people to Christ.

I’m going to pray that our country is successful and protected.

I’m going to pray for those that hate us, that they will know I love them.

I’m going to pray for those that persecute, that they may know compassion.

I’m going to pray for those who struggle, that they may find peace and fulfillment.

I’m going to pray for the homeless, the poor and the needy, that they may know plenty.

I’m going to pray.

Do you know why I’m going to do this. Because the Bible tells us multiple times to pray. Look in Matthew Chapter 5 and 6, 1 Timothy 2, 1 Peter 2, Romans 13, II Chronicles 7, Proverbs 2, and there is more. Prayer is a potent instrument of change, and in a land full of disharmony and anger, we need prayer.

Folks, the entire world needs our prayers. Don’t get caught up in the anger, get caught up in prayer, and let us be the people God has called us to be. We are all God’s children. Even the person who is shouting you down is made in God’s image. We need to change. We need to love. We need God. We need to pray.

Will you join me?

I hope to see you in Church.
