To The Editor ... Doniphan Resident Responds To Brady's Capitol Visit Story

Wednesday, January 20, 2021

Editor,

I would like to address this note to Ron Smith concerning the article on the front page of The Prospect-News, Jan. 13, 2021.

I watched for hours of TV, the riot or insurrection. It was an attack on the Capitol. People died. A policeman lost his life. The police kept calling for back up and this president did not send it. Earlier the president spoke and said “fight like hell.” No this was not media produced. It was a mob, yes, and they kept saying, “hang Pence.”

I cannot imagine something like this happening here in our great United States of America. How anyone could call this “empowering and peaceful” is beyond, far beyond anyone’s thinking.

Sincerely,

Ruby Hatfield

Doniphan

Editor’s Note: After seeing her posts on social media, we asked Ms. Brady to share her experience at the Capitol on Jan. 6 because it’s not often that someone from Ripley County attends an event in Washington, D.C. While we all know there was violence that day, where she and her family were located, there was none, according to Ms. Brady. We always welcome feedback.
