To The Editor...Doniphan Resident Expresses Appreciation For Doniphan R-I

Wednesday, February 10, 2021

Editor,

I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to Superintendent Brad Hagood and our Doniphan R-I School District for opening our schools as typical last fall.

I watch on TV and read about these schools that have been closed since last spring and it breaks my heart for their students. These kids have lost nearly a year of invaluable education but also a year of social skills, communication skills, student activities and possible scholarships. Some may have to repeat a year of school because they have missed so much curriculum (through no fault of their own).

I also applaud our administrators, teachers, nurses, office workers, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, aides, janitors, maintenance crew and all other school employees for their dedication to our students under challenging conditions as well.

In addition, I offer praise to all other county school district superintendents and school boards for opening their schools last fall, too. I compliment all of you for putting our county students first.

And I commend our Ripley County Health Department for their dedicated service to the citizens of our county during this challenging time of COVID. Jan and her “gals” are doing a wonderful job of taking care of our community and their respective needs throughout this difficult period of time.

Thank you everyone...you are appreciated!

Debbie Littles
