Changes Announced In Vaccine Sign-Ups

Wednesday, February 17, 2021

Things are always changing as you know. The Ripley County Health Center has received notice that our residents now have to register with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The website is www.mostopscovid.com. If you do not have access to a computer you may call 1-877-435-8411 and someone is to help you register. The local health department did not have anything to do with this decision. We believe local service is best.

At this time, over 1,500 shots have been given by your local health center. All of these shots have to be documented in the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services system. We will be giving over 500 more on March 6 at the Doniphan High School gym for those who have received their first shot on Feb. 6. Walgreens and CVS have given vaccine shots at the Current River Nursing Center, assisted living centers and senior housing complexes.

At this time, we do not know if we will receive more vaccine due to the change in the “regional approach” set up by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Service. What we do know is that the planned mass clinic that encompassed many local vaccinators, city and county officials and volunteers was successful. That was our mission. Many thanks are to be given to all who helped in the mass clinic.

We will try to keep the public advised of changes. You may also call us at 573-996-2181 if you have questions. Our goal is and always has been to protect, provide and promote good public health in our county We are hopeful that local public agencies will be allowed to give vaccine to our local residents locally again.
