It’s time to revive that volunteer spirit and get ready for the Fourth Annual Unity For Our Community Doniphan City Cleanup.

This year’s event is set for Saturday, May 1 - which coincidentally is the fourth anniversary of the historic Current River flood.

Participants will register from 8-9 a.m. at the First Church of God parking lot, 506 E. Pine St. The clean-up will be held from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are invited to come back to the church parking lot for a free lunch.

Gloves, safety vests and trash bags will be provided. Everyone is asked to dress accordingly. Free t-shirts will be provided during registration.

Groups needing volunteer service points or anyone needing to get community service hours will find the clean-up to be a great opportunity.

For more information about the clean-up contact Serra McCabe via Facebook or call Chasity Mathis at city hall (996-2623.)

The City of Doniphan is encouraging anyone that resides inside the city limits to please contact city hall at 996-2623 (option 1 or 3) if you have items that need picked up on May 1.

Work orders must be scheduled beforehand. If you have not arranged to have a work order, items will not be picked up.

All items for pickup must be placed by the roadside. These items may include appliances, microwaves, televisions, mattresses and box springs. Limbs and debris must be bundled and left beside the road. No treated lumber.

Tires will be picked up. Those calling in work orders must include the count and size of all tires. Those not listed on the work order will not be picked up.
