Ripley County Fair Will Return Sept. 8-11

The Ripley County Fair is set to return with a full four-night lineup of events in 2021.

According to the Ripley County Fair Board, fair dates are Sept. 8-11. Home economics entries will be accepted on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Volunteers who would like to help get the fairgrounds ready are invited to attend the next clean-up day from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 19.

Many traditional events will be back following last year’s cancellation due to COVID-19.

Here’s the schedule of events for the 2021 Ripley County Fair:

Tuesday, Sept. 7

3 p.m. - Fairgrounds opens to receive non-livestock exhibits.

8 p.m. - Closing time for entry of home economics, fine and assorted arts and crafts exhibits.

Wednesday, Sept. 8

Carnival will not be open on Wednesday

8 a.m. - Fairgrounds opens for livestrock entries

10 a.m. - Judging of non-livestock entries - closed to the public

12 p.m. - 4H and FFA market livestock must be in place

4 p.m. - Fairgounds opens to the public

5 p.m. - Baby Fair Queen and King contest

5:30 p.m. - Tiny Fair Queen and King contest

6 p.m. - Little Fair Queen and King contest

7 p.m. - Junior Fair Queen contest

8 p.m. - Young Miss Fair Queen contest

8:30 p.m. - Miss Ripley County Fair Queen contest

8:30 p.m. - Coon Dog Treeing contest

9 p.m. - Closing time for livestock entries

Thursday, Sept. 9

3 p.m. - Fairgrounds open to public

4 p.m. - Judging for sheep and goats

5 p.m. - Judging for swine

6 p.m. - Cattle judging

6 p.m. - Bluegrass/gospel bands

6 p.m. - Carnival open to the public

7:30 p.m. - Logger’s Relay

Friday, Sept. 10

2 p.m. - Fairgrounds open to the public

6 p.m. - Market pig, lamb and youth cattle showmanship ribbon sale

8 p.m. - Open Mic Night/Karaoke-Deluxe Entertainment

8 p.m. - Chalk Bluff Bull Bust

Saturday, Sept. 11

8 a.m. - Fairgrounds open to the public

8-10 a.m. - Key Club Pancake Breakfast

9:30 a.m. - Registration for Kid’s Day activities

9 a.m. - Horse judging

9 a.m. - Horse shoe pitching/Corn hole toss

10 a.m. - Kid’s Day activities begin

10 a.m. - Car and tractor show

11 a.m. - Fairs and Festivals Speaking contest

12 p.m. - Benefit auction

12 p.m. - Carnival kid’s matinee

12:30 p.m. - Tug-Of-War contest

2 p.m. - Mini tractor pulling

3 p.m. - Removal of exhibits

4 p.m. - Purman Fire Department fish fry

6 p.m. - Carnival open to the public

7 p.m. - Truck and tractor pull

11 p.m. - Fairgrounds closed
