Four Deaths Confirmed This Week In Ripley County

Ripley County coroner Mike Jackson and county health center director Tammy Cosgrove announced Friday morning two more confirmed deaths of Ripley County residents who suffered from COVID-19 among other underlying conditions.

County officials confirmed two new deaths on Monday, Sept. 13, bringing the number during the week to four.

A total of 21 deaths have now occurred in 2021. Ripley County recorded 11 such deaths in 2020.

The health center said Thursday that six new positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed, bringing the total positive cases in the county this year to 935. Local health center staff will be monitoring cases and follow up with contacts will be done.

Ripley County had 722 positive cases during 2020.

“Our community is reminded that everyone has a responsibility to help keep people around them safe,” said Cosgrove. “While our cases continue, please help by washing your hands, consider taking the vaccine and practice distancing in large crowds. Wear a mask in areas where there are concerns.”

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Friday there have been 659,361 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak and 11,046 deaths. Overall, the state said 52.9 percent of the population has received at least one dose and 46.7 percent have completed vaccination.
