Dons Retire Jake Eddington's Baseball Jersey

Thursday, January 13, 2022
It had been more than 25 years since a Doniphan High School baseball player had his number retired. That drought was broken recently when Jake Eddington (Class of 2020) was honored prior to a Dons basketball game. Making the presentation were Dons assistant coach Junior Baucom (left) and head baseball coach Dalton Pennington (right.) Eddington was a two-time all-state performer for the Dons but was denied a chance to three-peat when the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. Eddington currently is attending the University of Alabama on a baseball scholarship. A sign with his name and number will join the other honorees on the outfield fence at Bob Byrd Field. They include Joey Blackwell, Richie Ayers, Brad Eddington (Jake’s father) and Coach Byrd.
