A Good Word

My friend and I had it all figured out. We’d decided to do this and this and that. Make no mistake, it was OUR plan or to quote Frank Sinatra, “I did it myyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyy”. So, we struck out expecting all our intentions to come to fruition. Alas, everything we thought we could do, we couldn’t. At least for me, I left out the most important part of the plan, God’s leading. In my rush to accomplish what surely must be God’s will, I decided to step out before I stepped back, stopped, and listened for that still small voice. What I gained from this experience, however, will not be forgotten. I learned to get out of His way and let Him work. Has He ever failed to bring me “the desires of my heart”, even when I didn’t know exacty what those were until I received them? Haven’t I declared, many, many times, that this HAS to be a Godwink? Surely, by now, I know without a doubt, that nothing is a coincidence. What else have I gained from this experience? A newly found friend who has a loving and giving heart. A year ago, I didn’t even know her name. (I won’t divulge her name, but her initials are Sue B.) or realized we shared similar interests. As the sun shines through my window, turning the dew on the trees into diamonds, I think I’ll dismiss all my plans for the day. I know I’ll have to be reminded, again and again, just like I was this time, what He has planned today. After all, “If you want to hear God laugh, make plans.” Amen!
