Boil Water Order Lifted For District #2

Monday, August 8, 2022

Ripley County Water District #2 boil water advisory is now lifted as of Thursday, Aug. 11.

Ripley County Water District #2 has announced a boil water alert for the area of well #3 (Lignetics) to the county line at Ringo Ford, Fairdealing, Oxly and Naylor. This will include all of the households on both gravel roads and highways.

Residents in that area reported Friday that they had no water. Crews worked until late that night to locate the source of the problem which was first believed to be a water leak. It was later discovered that one of the booster pumps at well #2 was down.

Water service was restored by the next morning; however, crews encountered more issues on Saturday as they worked to repair damages.

According to a press release issued on Saturday, crews are having to "replace 45 feet of six-inch main water line just east of well #2 (which is the Cypress Creek area). "The more water line that they repair, the more water line keeps splitting and cracking," the report stated.

Residents of the affected areas are cautioned to continue to boil their drinking water until further notice.

District #2 apologizes for any inconvenience to their customers while crews work to make sure safe drinking water is restored.
