Wednesday Nov. 2, I received a call from a lady at the church saying “Pray, Serra, pray!” The FaceTime call was showing me that there was a large fire behind the West Point Gymnasium.

I was stunned like many and thought “oh no, Lord help us!”

The fire which started from a burn pile that got out of control was put out due to the efforts of multiple fire departments!

I don’t even know who all was represented that day but I’m sending my deepest gratitude and appreciation to each department and individual who came out!

I am so thankful for the volunteer fire departments and city of Soniphan fire department working together as a team to help us!

None of them hesitated! That was so impressive to me! I’m very thankful for the “mutual aid agreement” that’s in place with the city and volunteer fire departments.

After this experience, I urge you to please support volunteer fire departments! Pay your dues, make a donation to help them! They need updated equipment, training and supplies to continue serving our county.

I hope each firefighter gets to read this and know that the West Point congregation appreciates you all! Praying blessings over you and your departments in Jesus Name!

Sincerely,

Serra McCabe
