If you’re anywhere close to my age, you’ve had this conversation. Since we are entering the “golden years’, and time marches on, you tend to entertain certain scenarios. At the same time we bring these up, we all know that we have no guarantees on how our lives will end in this life. I always thought I was fine with death. I was, that is, until I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital a week ago with severe chest pain. I tried to pray in the ambulance, to feel God’s presence and love. However, the pain was so bad I ended up just being terrified. The whole ideas of grace, forgiveness, and unconditional love flew right out the window. However, as I look back, today, almost a week after the fact, I can see His fingerprints all over that day and the days to follow.
