City Park Program To Begin New Season May 17
In the past five years, the Doniphan Summer Park Program has survived a historic flood and a worldwide pandemic.
Monday, May 17, it will be time to play ball again at Riverfront Park. From t-ball to junior girls softball, about 400 youngsters have signed up to play this season.
Last season’s program was cancelled due to COVID-19 guidelines, marking the first time since its start in the early 1960s by the Doniphan Lions Club that a season wasn’t played.
In 2017, the season started late but carried on after the May 1 flood that saw water reach the rooftops around the park as Current River reached an amazing 33.13 feet crest.
See Page 10 in this week's edition of The Prospect-News for a complete schedule of all youth leagues. And come on down to the park and cheer them on.
