Watsons To Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary

Joe and June Watson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 18 from 2-5 p.m. at the Doniphan Community Center with a drop-in reception to honor their golden anniversary. The reception will be hosted by their daughter, Christi Kirby.

The Watsons were married July 18, 1971 in Holcomb, Mo. at the home of the bridegroom’s grandmother and granddaddy Anderson, who performed the double-ring ceremony.

June is the Ripley County Recorder of Deeds and is now in her 15th year of serving the people of Ripley County. Joe has worked as a telephone contractor and locally for Davis True Value and was a self-employed plumber/electrician for several years prior to retiring.

Watsons Now

Joe is the son of the late Mack and Laverne Watson. June is the daughter of Bonny Davis and the late Henry Davis.

June has resided in Ripley County all of her life and Joe has lived in Ripley County since 1965.

The couple has one daughter, Christi (and Robert) Kirby of Gatewood; one son, Mickey Watson of Doniphan; three grandchildren, Landon, Audrey and Cole Watson and one great-grandson, Kannon Watson.

The Watsons are both members of the Handy Church of God in Handy.

The couple requests no gifts, just please stop by and help them celebrate. Refreshments will be served.
