SCMCAA Accepting Sign-Ups For Aug. 8 School Readiness Event

The South Central Missouri Community Action Agency is accepting pre-registrations for the 2020 School Readiness Event set for Saturday, Aug. 8 in Ripley County.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, this year’s event will be ‘drive-thru only’ with families remaining in their cars while picking up school supplies.

The event is set from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at West Point Church on Route E, about four miles east of Doniphan.

Participants are required to preregister by calling 573-996-3713 ext. 11. A Social Security card is needed for each household member.

Also that day at the same location, the Third Annual Every Kid Counts Back 2 School Clothing Drive will be held in the West Point gymnasium from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. All students in Ripley County are eligible to receive free clothing, shoes and hygiene packs.
