‘Unity For Our Community’ - Work Order Deadline May 1 Doniphan City-Wide Spruce-Up May 4

Wednesday, April 24, 2024

The annual ‘Unity for our Community’ city clean-up planners are calling on all volunteers to show up May 4 at the Cottonwood Event Center.

“Come in your work boots and gloves, bring in your trucks and trailers and let’s clean up our town,” say planners Serra McCabe and Chasity Mathis.

They assure that there will be a job for every one, regardless of age.

“We will need all the help we can get,” say

McCabe and Mathis.

Registration is from 8 to 9 a.m., and clean-up assignments will start immediately following, with crews to meet back at the Cottonwood Event Center at noon for lunch.

Residents of Doniphan with orders to pick-up large items are asked to call City Hall at 573-996-2623 or stop by and make those arrangements. The deadline is May 1.

“Items won’t be picked up unless we have the work order in hand, and this year there is a limit on the number of tires we can accept,” says McCabe.

“We will ask individuals to pick up trash, and teams with trucks and trailers to fill the work orders,” Mathis adds.

Sponsors for the event include: Countryside Chevrolet; Current River Ford of Doniphan; Mathis Timber, LLC; Current Situation at Southern Comfort Cabins and RV; McDonalds of Doniphan; Elliot’s Lawn and Landscaping; United Country American Realty; Ozark Federal Credit Union; Hwy 142E Machine Shop; E&S Pharmacy; West Point Pentecostal Church; Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health; Noah Bowah’s Treats & Treasures; Collins & Associates Realty, LLC; People’s Community Bank, Diane’s Plaza Flower; Georgia Klingler; Gary Emmons; Keith Whiteside; City of Doniphan; Fast Trash Service; and E.T. Performance & Towing.

“This would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, and the willingness of our volunteers,” says McCabe.

For more details, contact Mathis at the city hall or call McCabe at 573-544-4513.
