Jacob Limbaugh earned honors for raising the grand champion swine during livestock judging at the Ripley County Fair. Limbaugh's entry also was named Live Show Champion. Top bidder at $1,500 for the grand champion during the Sept. 10 youth market barrow sale was Doug Hoefer of Hoefer Feed And Pet Food in Doniphan. Altogether the 24 hogs and lambs sold averaged $1,071 per head during the sale.

Top bidder at $1,300 for the grand champion was Southern Bank represented by Matt O’Neal. Presenting Brody with his awards were fair queen royalty Grace Shafer, Freedom Bates and Emily Johannsen.

Remington Crofford’s market barrow was a record-setting example of the generosity shown by local business people in support of the youth at the Ripley County Fair. Crofford’s hog was purchased by State Sen. Karla Eslinger and donated to Ripley County Toys 4 Tots. Representing Toys 4 Tots is Christi Kirby. The hog was then resold and purchased by Pickrell Construction with the money going to Toys 4 Tots. Pickrell then donated the hog for resale. Endeavor Home Care was the top bidder and donated the hog to the Doniphan FFA to be sold again. Top bidder (top right photo) was Tim Shepard and daughter Harper representing Naylor Apartments, who donated the hog to the Naylor FFA to be sold again. Top bidder (pictured lower right) was Steve Smith of Never Ready Cattle Co. who donated the hog back to the Doniphan FFA for its annual banquet. Overall, the hog helped raise $3,600 for Toys 4 Tots and the FFA chapters at Doniphan and Naylor high schools.
