Armed Forces Day At VFW Post 3485 May 18

Armed Forces Day, a day designated to pay tribute to active duty service members, is Saturday, May 18. VFW Post #3485 is hosting an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. on that day. The auxiliary invites the community to provide names and addresses of family and friends who are currently members of the military so care packages and/or postcards can be sent as tokens of appreciation for service. Know someone but cannot attend? Call J.A. Ashby Post #3485 at 996-3016 with mailing information and those individuals will be added to the list.

Veterans Services Officer Jim Juergens will be at the VFW during the Open House to provide information to veterans and/or spouses regarding military services and benefits available. His assistance can be a valuable asset to those needing help navigating paperwork involved.

There will also be a fish fry in conjunction with the Fallen Brothers Memorial Run sponsored by Men of Tyre that ends at Post #3485 during the Armed Forces Day Open House.

Interested in joining the Post or Auxiliary? Applications will be available. A copy of the eligible DD214 would help in determining qualifications. This day would be a great time to see the facility and learn more about its mission.

Visit the VFW on Ball Park Road on Saturday, May 18 between 2 and 5 p.m. for its Armed Forces Day Open House and Fish Fry. All are welcome.
