To The Editor ... Doniphan Resident Seeks More Info On Local COVID Immunizations

Friday, February 5, 2021

Editor,

Weekly we have read the number of those that are suffering the effects of Covid-19. My questions to the county are as follows...

How many immunizations have been conducted by Ripley County? What is the process for registration? What is the expected wait time for a call back for registration? Why is everything passed word of mouth? Why isn’t the information published in The Prospect-News?

Signed, A 66 year-old at-risk lymphoma cancer survivor.

*Editor’s note: According to the local health department, 700 immunizations have been given as of PN press time. The majority were given to our local first responders and health care workers. To register to receive a COVID-19 vaccination contact the health department at 996-2181 and you will be placed on a waiting list. You will need to answer a few basic questions. As far as a time frame there are too many variables to pinpoint a time frame, according to health center personnel. A clinic will be held Feb. 6 at Doniphan High School with the goal of administering 500 shots. Pre-registration is required. You will not receive the shot if you have not been contacted with an appointment time.

The Prospect-News does receive information from the local health department, however there are instances when the information has changed by the time it can be included in the print edition. We continue to try to keep our community informed. Watch our website for the latest information available, www.theprospectnews.com.
