1984: Make Way For The DHS Marching Band

Wednesday, September 1, 2021
When the 49th Annual Doniphan Labor Day Homecoming parade returns Saturday, Sept. 4, a Ripley County tradiiton will be reborn after last year’s postponement due to COVID. Pictured above is a scene from the Sept. 1, 1984, parade as the Doniphan High School Marching Band makes its way downtown along Washington Street in front of the The Prospect-News office. Leading the group are banner carriers Kim Williams (left) and Sandra Jones. Behind them is majorette Rhonda Stevens. Be sure to pack a lawn chair and kids don’t forget a bag for all the candy.
