Circuit Thoughts

Okay, we are now on the other side of Easter. Many of you may be making plans for Mother’s Day, Memorial Day and all the vacations that may be coming. Some of you may be planting and preparing your gardens in hopes of fresh vegetables and fruit. I know the kids are looking forward to warm days and no school.

But guess what, we aren’t there yet. We have just celebrated the most spectacular event in the history of humanity, and we cannot just sit by and let it go. Nope, we have a job to do.

1 Peter 1: 3-9 tells us that we have been given a great inheritance. This inheritance is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, in other words, perfect. It’s not often we get the perfect inheritance. In fact, it isn’t often we get an inheritance. Isn’t a death kind of a requirement to inherit something?

That’s the beauty of Easter and its season.

Even though Jesus died, He rose again. Now, in the world that would negate any inheritance, but for Jesus, it just opened the floodgates of grace upon the whole world. Christ is offering us an inheritance that is absolutely perfect.

You see, if we believe in Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are given a new birth. We no longer belong to the world, but to Christ. That is the Good News of the Gospel. We don’t have to fear the future, for Christ is with us.

What is also unique is that while we are inheritors, we are also executors. We not only get to inherit the Gifts from Christ, but we also get the joy of offering Christ to others, so they can inherit.

So, lest you think you have nothing to do, let me be so bold as to offer a bit of an attitude correction. We have much to do, for the Kingdom of God is at hand, (that’s what Jesus said). We cannot just sit around and rest on our laurels. We need to get up and out and tell people about this wonderful gift.

Let me tell you, you can’t leave it up to preachers alone. Yes, we are trained in preaching and praying and all that stuff, but we cannot reach everyone. There is only so many of us to go around. To truly spread the Gospel, we need the church members to get up and start moving.

Church is great for learning and growing. It is a place of healing and prayer, but we are called to Go and make disciples. Thus, we need to get moving.

Too many people don’t know that they are called to inherit the Kingdom, we can tell them. Too many people have no idea of what the kingdom even is, we can educate them. Too many people are lost, WE can find them, but we need to do it NOW.

This is a call to action. People need to know the Love of Christ and the Hope that is theirs if they only believe. Time to get moving.

Shalom my friends.

See you in church.
