Circuit Thoughts – WOW!

Wednesday, February 14, 2024

I’m looking out of my office window, and it really looks pretty odd. I don’t know what the deal is, but there is this pretty blue color all around and in the middle of it is the big bright yellow glowing thing. The trees seem to have, I think they are called, shadows on the opposite side. I mean, WOW, it sure is bright out there.

Yes, after all the rain, snow, cold and clouds, God is blessing us with a beautiful day. It reminds me of a verse I have just recently read, “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” (Psalm 103:2).

Look, I know that the sun has always been shining on the other side of our cloudy days, I also know that it would come out some day. As Spring draws closer, we are going to see more of these days, and the result of the warmth. I personally can’t wait.

But, more importantly, I must praise God for all the blessings He has given me. We have come through the storms of winter, and I believe He will bring us through the storms of spring. We still have blustery days ahead, and maybe even a few cold snaps. We can look forward to the heat of summer and the return of winter because that is what nature does.

But even in the worst of times, we can remember the best of God’s blessings. No matter where you are, you probably have a memory of something good God has done for you. I know I have many and I praise God for the chance to experience more.

Look, I know the reality of life can get grim. I know that life is not always honey and roses. I also know what it is like to look into the abyss of despair. But even in those times God is there, ready to pull us back and bring us out. God never wants us to forget His goodness. That is why the psalmist wrote so many praise songs. God is good, even in the bad times. That is the truth.

Let me offer something to you. If you are feeling low, or down, contact your minister. If you can’t reach him or her, then call a friend, and ask to pray with them. Get together, fix a cup of tea or a pot of coffee, and count your blessings together. I promise you the blessings far outweigh the problems.

Might I also suggest a visit to church. There you can find other folks who may need the blessing of prayers. Go ahead and offer to pray with them. Nothing can move mountains better than prayers. I know prayers are answered, and I know God never lets us down.

Meanwhile, enjoy the days that are bright and sunny. These days will become the memories and blessings that will fight our blues in the future.

Just a thought.

Shalom my friends. See you in church.
