Shaun Alan Burke, 60, of Nixa, Mo. passed away on April 1, 2024 after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Shaun was born on June 15, 1963 to Gerald and Murley Burke. After Shaun graduated from Doniphan High School in 1981, he went on to study Finance at Southwest Missouri State University.

Shaun started his banking career in 1985, spending nearly 40 years in the field. Over these years in banking, Shaun worked at every level possible, starting as a teller and later as President and CEO of Guaranty Bank from 2004-2022. Shaun’s longevity within the industry demonstrates his strong work ethic and dedication to excellence that he passed on to his family and everyone that he encountered.

In 1986, Shaun met his wife Kimberly while working at Centerre Bank. Shaun and Kimberly married in 1987 and in the coming years went on to have two children, Kylea and Dalton Burke. His family later grew with the addition of his daughter-in-law, Kylah and later 2 granddaughters, Sadie and Hattie. Recently, he welcomed his son-in-law, Orion Avery, and his two sons Judah and Beau, to the family. Shaun spent his days at many ballparks, gymnasiums, and concert halls, coaching and watching his children participating in many different activities. He and his wife Kim often traveled across the world for both work and vacations. In recent years, Shaun’s favorite place has been at Table Rock Lake where he enjoyed hosting friends and family on the boat to relax and enjoy the water. Shaun would tell you that the pinnacle of his working career was taking over duty as “Poppy”, specializing in making pancakes and snuggling down for naps.

Shaun was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Murley Burke and his father-in-law John Boyd. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly, his son Dalton, wife Kylah and grandchildren Sadie and Hattie. His daughter Kylea, husband Orion and grandchildren Judah and Beau. Shaun is also survived by his brothers Steve (Donna), Dennis (Jane), and Joel Burke, his mother-in-law, Mary Boyd. His sister-in-law Katrina (David) and numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends as Shaun never knew a stranger.

Services for Shaun were held Friday, April 5, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East Springfield, Mo. Interment followed at McConnell-Bledsoe Cemetery Nixa. Visitation was held Thursday, April 4 at the funeral home.

One of Shaun’s many worries in this world was that people go hungry or without life’s necessities. So, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Least of These or another local charity of your choice.
